Downtime is very common among delegates, from that has come many interesting and comfortable spots and spaces that are found to have a great amount of use. From sleeping to rehearsing, these places are a great help to delegates. Interviewees have mentioned many places from the most obscure to right out in the open. However, by far the most mentioned is the Senate and house gallery. Whether for a quick nap or to get assignments completed, the galleries are easily the most common places. Through many wrong turns and long hallways, lay cozy nooks of the Capitol that tend to draw in delegates.
Comfort is key at the Model Convention, and Julia Parrey, a delegate from Hershey, found the perfect key. Parrey is a member of the Judicial branch, and for her and her partner finding a place to relax and prepare for rounds is vital. Two years ago, Parrey found a little haven a few floors up from the Attorney’s room. There is an alcove with a plethora of windows with a view, and sills perfect for lounging. Parrey says it is the perfect place to get away from the chaos of Model to repair and practice her argument.
Finding the perfect spot to complete your tasks and simply for a break can be an extremely vital aspect to enjoying your time off at the capitol. Finding this spot could take a while or merely taking a lucky wrong turn. Looking for this place could benefit any delegate in a sizeable way.
