After three months of hard work and campaigning, Sam Bisno and the Obama Delegation get to celebrate his victory in the election of Youth Governor. He wants to thank his parents and delegation for supporting him through the whole crazy process and all those who voted for him and his platform as well. After the election, Bisno is already going to get down to business and implement his plans for all three branches. “I’m excited to prove to people that they made the right choice by voting for me,” Bisno stated.
A big part of Bisno’s platform is improving the branches and their connections. To achieve this, he has some specific ideas in mind for each branch. He said, “Legislative already has a really solid foundation.” Because of this, next year he doesn’t plan on making any huge changes, just some minor details. He would like to arrange more time for chamber sessions and create a platform where members can get opinions and suggestions on their bills before Model.
Bisno also wants to give the Judicial and Press branch the recognition he believes they deserve. For delegations that have small or nonexisting judicial branches, he plans on creating what he calls a “tool kit” that would give those branches tips on how to get the ball rolling for their judicial program. Additionally, He wants to give the press a more organized regimen during their delegation meetings and have them reporting on their delegation year round. “I want to be reading the Capital Chronicle once a week, not just the four days at Model.”
Bisno also has big plans for Youth and Government as a whole. He’s setting out to solve the split between delegations and create a more united club throughout the state by hosting a monthly call with delegation leaders. Bisno also stated, “One of the things I worked hardest on was figuring out ways to make YAG about more than just Model.” To fulfill this promise of expanding YAG, he already set up meetings with the Governor, President pro tempore, and the Speaker and began reaching out to college admissions officers to inform them about the club.
Overall, Sam Bisno is ready to do everything he can for YAG and is thankful for all the support he has from those around him. “It's the people that I’ve spent these last three years around that have made me feel like I’m ready to be their governor.”
