THE CAPITOL CHRONICLE

As of Thursday, March 12, 2020, the Pennsylvania Youth and Government model conference has been canceled.

     It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of the decision to cancel our Model conference due to potential health concerns associated with the coronavirus. We were hoping to provide potential alternative dates, but given the unpredictability of the virus, we are not able to reschedule the conference.  The decision was made by the Capitol to close its doors to the public until further notice.  
     We understand the disappointment of your students, but after consulting our colleagues, health professionals, and our Board, it was clear that the YMCA’s commitment to health and safety outweighs our sincere desire to provide students with this opportunity.  We simply cannot justify holding the conference. The risk to the students and volunteers is simply too great.

     More information will follow and we will keep you informed.  In the meantime – thank you for all you have done to get ready for Model.  It is a tough time in the world right now and a hard thing to have disappointed students.

     Take care of yourselves – physically and spiritually. We will miss being with all of you at the conference but look forward to future sessions. We wish you and your family good health and safety.
